Resistance to water penetration
Greater watertightness and protection of structures, especially underground ones.
Products / Waterproofing admixtures
Introduction
Waterproofing admixtures are chemical additives added to the concrete mix whose main purpose is to increase the resistance of concrete to water penetration — by reducing porosity, blocking capillaries, a hydrophobic effect, or forming crystalline barriers within the pores. They are particularly important in underground structures (basements, tunnels, tanks), as well as in bridges, car parks and terraces. They form part of a waterproofing system — effective protection requires a combination of proper design, reinforcement, admixtures, and coatings and membranes.
Benefits
Greater watertightness and protection of structures, especially underground ones.
The hydrophobic effect limits water uptake and capillary rise.
Better resistance to the action of de-icing salts and reduced porosity.
Reduced formation of efflorescence on the concrete surface.
